The year 2025 marks the tenth anniversary of the first events organized by the Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco. The Rencontres were founded with the ambition of creating a true space for reflection, exchange, and sharing. Since their inception, they have strived to nurture a “community of thought” where philosophical discourse flows freely, sheds light on the challenges of the contemporary world, and provides interpretative keys to navigate the growing complexity of our time.
Among the many initiatives, the Semaine PhiloMonaco has become a major event in the intellectual and cultural life of the Principality. For its third edition, which will take place from June 10 to 15, 2025, several iconic locations in Monaco will host a rich program around the theme “Truth.” Philosophers, thinkers, writers, and public figures will be invited to engage in dialogue with the public through conferences, book presentations, debates, round tables, and other interactive formats.
The Matinales, organized daily from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Place du Marché, will provide a privileged moment for direct exchange between speakers and participants, fostering a friendly atmosphere open to discussion.
The Théâtre Princesse Grace, transformed for the occasion into the “House of Philosophy,” will host most of the events: conferences, conversations, philosophical lunches, youth workshops… Philosophical reflection will also extend to more unexpected locations such as Café de Paris, the Hôtel Hermitage, and the Yacht Club de Monaco, further emphasizing the Rencontres’ desire to make thought resonate in various spaces.
The highlight of the week will be the Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, June 12, at 8:00 PM at the Théâtre Princesse Grace. Presented by Thierry Consigny, Cultural and Artistic Advisor to Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, the event will gather the founding members of the Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco, as well as the jury members. Pierre Guenancia, winner of the 2024 Prize for “L’Homme sans moi. Essai sur l’identité” (PUF, 2023), will deliver a speech titled “What is Philosophy?” The evening will continue with the announcement of the 2025 Prize, Honorary Mention, and Lycée Prize, recognizing works and thoughts that enrich our understanding of reality and contemporary challenges.
The Rencontres are open to all.
