As SNCF has just informed users that construction works will significantly modify the TER transport service from Nice to Ventimiglia from September 15, 2024, to June 26, 2025, inclusive (service suspension between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday), the Princely Government is concerned about the significant impact these changes will have on the travel of employees in the Principality, event professionals, visitors, and tourists who wish to arrive or depart from Monaco in the evening during this period.
In practice, aside from the implementation of an “exceptional coach departing from Monaco to Nice” reserved for SNCF subscribers, no solution is being proposed, particularly for employees who commute daily between Monaco and their place of residence for work.
While attending his first private session with the elected members of the National Council, the Minister of State said he was “deeply shocked to read that trains would no longer stop in Monaco after 9:00 p.m. This is unacceptable. […] We must be respected with a certain quality of service and not just be seen as mere financial backers.”
Therefore, although the Principality welcomes the planned works—with the aim of improving service—the Government is requesting an urgent meeting with SNCF Réseaux and the PACA Region to resolve the situation and ensure better service quality for all those connected to Monaco.
