La Note Verte 2026

From September 4 to 6, 2026, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin will host a new edition of La Note Verte, the eco-friendly festival dedicated to jazz and live music in the heart of nature. For three days, some of the area’s most spectacular landscapes will become open-air stages, creating an original dialogue between music, scenery and sustainability.

Organised by the City of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, the Office d’Animation Touristique and the Green Music association, the festival offers an alternative way to experience jazz: free concerts staged in natural settings, chosen not only for their beauty but also to provide audiences with a more intimate and authentic listening experience.

Jazz and nature at the heart of a sustainable festival

The distinctive feature of La Note Verte is precisely its relationship between music and the environment. Presented as the department’s first open-air jazz festival, the event brings artists directly into natural surroundings, from Mediterranean viewpoints and coastal landscapes to parks and inland paths.

The collaboration with Green Music, an organisation involved in producing outdoor jazz and world music festivals, also allows the event to adopt solutions designed to reduce its environmental footprint. The sound system operates with low energy consumption, while the electricity required is supplied through batteries powered by solar energy.

The festival follows a clear philosophy: the natural locations determine the choice of artists, rather than the other way around. Each concert therefore becomes an opportunity to discover parts of the area that are sometimes overlooked, while enjoying music in an environment far removed from traditional concert halls.

Friday, September 4: the festival opens at Pointe du Cap-Martin

The festival will officially begin on Friday, September 4 at 9:00 pm, at Pointe du Cap-Martin, with “Tribute to the Giants of Jazz”.

The international quartet will be led by Pat Bianchi, a New York-born organist, alongside trumpeter Joe Magnarelli, saxophonist Tony Lakatos and drummer Bernd Reiter.

The musicians will pay tribute to some of the great figures in jazz history, opening the festival in a particularly evocative setting overlooking the Mediterranean.

Admission to the concert is free.

Saturday, September 5: jazz arrives at Parc Départemental du Cros de Casté

The second day of La Note Verte will begin on Saturday, September 5 at 11:00 am at Parc Départemental du Cros de Casté, where the “Flavio Boltro Four Directions” project will take centre stage.

The quartet will be led by Italian trumpeter Flavio Boltro, an internationally renowned musician, accompanied by Andrea Rea on piano, Massimiliano Rolff on double bass and Antonio Arco on drums.

Throughout his career, Boltro has collaborated with some of the leading names in international jazz, including Michel Petrucciani and Cedar Walton. The concert will therefore offer audiences the opportunity to hear a high-level ensemble in a particularly beautiful natural setting.

This concert will also be free of charge.

Saturday afternoon: jazz, electronic music and Moroccan influences

The programme will continue on Saturday, September 5 at 5:30 pm at Plage du Golfe Bleu, where the “Jazz et DJ” project will bring together contemporary jazz, electronic music and sounds inspired by Morocco.

The performance will feature saxophonist and composer Gianni Denitto and producer FILOQ, whose project moves beyond the traditional boundaries of jazz through sampling, electronic rhythms and international influences.

The connection with Tangier is particularly interesting, as some of the project’s musical influences and sampled sounds come from vinyl records discovered there. The result is an original meeting point between jazz, electronic music and different musical cultures, designed for audiences looking for contemporary sounds.

Admission to the concert will also be free.

Sunday, September 6 at sunrise: “All That Jazz for the Sunrise”

Sunday morning will feature one of the most unusual events of the festival. At 7:00 am on Sunday, September 6, on the Promenade piétonne de l’esplanade Jean Gioan, audiences will be able to attend “All That Jazz for the Sunrise”, a concert designed to accompany the sunrise.

The duo formed by saxophonist Jean-Christophe Lombardo and pianist Mickaël Berthelemy will perform a repertoire that explores several musical worlds, from jazz standards to Brazilian music, ballads, bebop, French chanson and New Orleans jazz.

The programme will include references to great artists such as John Coltrane, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Miles Davis.

The concert will be completely free and will focus above all on the experience: live music and the first light of day will meet against the Mediterranean backdrop of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.

Sunday, September 6: the grand finale with contemporary tango

The final event of La Note Verte 2026 will take place on Sunday, September 6 at 5:00 pm, at Clos Paulette, along the Chemins de Menton.

The festival will conclude with “Tango contemporain avec le Quintet Libertad”, a project dedicated to a contemporary reinterpretation of the music of Astor Piazzolla.

The quintet will feature Joseph Bonneton on violin, Fabrizio Colombo on bandoneon, Adrien Irankhah on piano, Léo Geller on electric guitar and Florian Coppey on double bass.

The ensemble will reinterpret Piazzolla’s nuevo tango through a musical language that brings together tango, rock, jazz and Western classical music. It will provide a finale that further expands the festival’s musical horizons and closes the event with a distinctly contemporary performance.

Admission will also be free.
