The Principality is preparing to welcome a major sporting event: the Monaco International Triathlon, scheduled for Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 2026. The competition marks the return of a triathlon event to Monaco’s streets after a 14-year absence.
To ensure the event runs smoothly and guarantee the safety of athletes and spectators, the authorities have introduced a temporary traffic management plan. It includes road closures, changes to traffic flows and parking restrictions affecting several key areas, particularly Larvotto, Monte-Carlo and Portier.
Residents, motorists and visitors are advised to plan their journeys in advance and pay close attention to temporary road signs.
The first restrictions will come into force on Saturday, November 7, at 5 pm and will remain in place until Sunday, November 8, at 6.30 pm.
During this period, traffic will be prohibited on the seafront carriageway of Avenue Princesse Grace, between the Place Anne-Marie Campora roundabout and the Place Joséphine Baker roundabout.
On Sunday, November 8, between 7 am and 2 pm, the closure will be extended to include the section between the Place Joséphine Baker roundabout and the Monte-Carlo Bay roundabout.
Residents living in the affected area will still be able to enter and leave their properties, with access managed and supervised by the event organisers.
Sunday will see the most significant traffic restrictions. From 9 am to 5 pm, the competition route will affect several important roads throughout the Principality.
The following roads and carriageways will be closed to traffic:
These restrictions will affect a substantial part of Monaco’s road network, particularly the Larvotto, Portier and Monte-Carlo districts.
A further change will affect traffic on Avenue d’Ostende on Sunday, November 8.
Between 9 am and 5 pm, the lane normally reserved for public transport will be opened to all vehicles travelling downhill, while the central lane will be used for uphill traffic.
The seafront carriageway will be reserved exclusively for the sporting competition.
Vehicles coming from Boulevard Louis II will also be required to continue towards Route de la Piscine.
The temporary measures will also affect parking.
The first parking ban will come into force on Saturday, November 7, at 5 pm and remain in place until Sunday, November 8, at 6.30 pm. Parking will be prohibited along Avenue Princesse Grace throughout this period.
A second restriction will begin on Saturday at 11 pm and end on Sunday at 6.30 pm. It will apply to the following roads:
Motorists are advised to check parking availability in advance and move their vehicles from the affected streets before the restrictions take effect.
The temporary arrangements will also affect pedestrian movements.
On Sunday, November 8, between 9.30 am and 6.30 pm, participants in the Monaco International Triathlon will be authorised to walk along the carriageway normally used by vehicles.
This measure forms part of the organisational plan designed to ensure safety and the smooth running of the competition.
A further public service announcement concerns La Poste Monaco. All seven post offices in the Principality will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, marking the anniversary of the end of the First World War (1914–1918), a public holiday in France.
Mail delivery services will also be suspended for the day, as will the collection of mail from postboxes located on public roads.
Normal services will resume on Thursday, November 12, when all seven post offices will reopen according to their usual opening hours. Mail and parcel deliveries will also return to normal.
La Poste Monaco asks customers to take these temporary service interruptions into account and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
For further information, customers can contact La Poste Monaco on 99 99 80 00.
The return of the triathlon is a significant sporting occasion for the Principality, but it will inevitably affect traffic and mobility throughout the weekend.
Residents and visitors are therefore encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time, taking into account road closures, parking restrictions and temporary traffic arrangements across Monaco.
