“Contemporary Art and Philosophy in the Mirror of Nicolas Poussin” Venue: NMNM – Villa Paloma (56, boulevard du Jardin Exotique, Monaco)
In partnership with: Nouveau Musée National de Monaco
On the occasion of the exhibition “Le Sentiment de la Nature, l’art contemporain au miroir de Nicolas Poussin”, the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco and the Rencontres Philosophiques present an interdisciplinary debate exploring the link between classical painting and the modern vision of nature.
Speakers:
Fabien Danesi: PhD in Art History and Director of FRAC Corse (Moderator).
Vincent Delecroix: Writer and philosopher, author of Poussin, une journée en Arcadie.
Ange Leccia: Visual artist and filmmaker, whose works from the museum’s collection are currently on display.
“La Gratitude” (Gratitude) Venue: Théâtre Princesse Grace (12, avenue d’Ostende, Monaco)
In collaboration with: Direction de l’Éducation Nationale, de la Jeunesse et des Sports.
A profound philosophical inquiry into the nature of gratitude, introduced by Raphael Zagury-Orly (founding member of the Rencontres Philosophiques). The debate will analyze why morality often struggles to define “good” as a permanent state, unlike ingratitude, which seems to indelibly mark the one who commits it.
Is gratitude an “intermittent” virtue, or can it become a stable character trait? Through the concept of asymmetrical relationships, speakers will explore how thankfulness keeps the path to good open, making moral action “gracious,” free, and infinite.
Panelists:
Paul Audi: Philosopher
Judith Revel: Philosopher
Camille Riquier: Philosopher
Laetitia Strauch-Bonart: Essayist
Delphine de Vigan: Renowned writer and author
