In anticipation of major international events in 2026, the Government of the Principality of Monaco has announced a significant strengthening of road safety measures, with a particular focus on high-powered vehicles and dangerous driving behavior.
High-profile events such as Top Marques Monaco and the renowned Formula 1 Grand Prix attract large numbers of car enthusiasts and collectors every year. However, these occasions can lead to sudden concentrations of supercars on public roads, increasing the risk of disturbances, traffic violations, and վտանգous situations for residents and visitors.
According to authorities, many of these gatherings are not officially organized and may result in inappropriate behavior such as speeding, reckless driving, and violations of traffic laws. Such conduct poses a real threat to public safety and the peace of local residents.
The stated goal is twofold: to prevent risky situations and to more effectively combat those responsible for dangerous or disruptive behavior. The Government aims to protect public order while maintaining high safety standards during internationally significant events.
Enhanced measures will apply in particular during the following events:
During these periods, in the event of traffic law violations, authorities may impose immediate vehicle impoundment for up to 120 hours (5 days)—a significantly longer duration than usual.
With these measures, the Principality sends a strong message: the appeal of luxury cars and prestigious events must not come at the expense of public safety. Respect for the rules remains an absolute priority, especially in high-attendance, high-visibility contexts.
