The Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights presented its new campaign for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which takes place on November 25. This initiative aims to highlight invisible forms of violence and remind people of the available support systems in Monaco. Surrounded by the members of the Committee and participants in the 2024 campaign, Céline COTTALORDA, Interministerial Delegate for Women’s Rights, emphasized the urgency of continuing the fight against domestic violence: “Some forms of violence can be insidious and difficult to identify. It is crucial to talk about it so that victims can recognize what they are experiencing.” This year, the campaign focuses on lesser-known types of violence, such as economic violence, violence in sports, and violence against women with disabilities. “Our goal is to expand our actions to other forms of violence that are often less visible and raise awareness among the public, which is not always aware of these violences,” added Céline COTTALORDA.
The main visual of the campaign shows a woman and her child breaking out of the bubble in which they were trapped, moving toward the light. Variations of this visual have been designed to represent each theme and the diversity of victim profiles.
Titled “From Shadow to Light,” the campaign evokes the journey that victims take to escape violence. This journey is marked by several stages, during which victims can receive help from professionals to regain their autonomy. The visual includes a subtitle, “Chronicles of Invisible Violence,” referring to the digital book created for the occasion.
This digital book features nine interviews with professionals from various backgrounds, showcasing the diversity of resources available in the Principality.
Céline COTTALORDA warmly thanked these professionals from the Department of Social Action and Assistance, CHPG, the Public Security Department, AVIP, and Me BERGONZI, who agreed to share their experiences, as well as Geneviève BERTI, Director of Communications, who conducted all the interviews as part of a collaboration between the Monaco Info Podcast and the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights.
The book will be available on the Committee’s website starting today, and the interviews will be available as a podcast from November 25 on the Committee’s website and on Monaco Info’s YouTube page.
