On March 25, 2026, the Monaco Monte-Carlo Train Station will host the first stop of the Dictée en Gare 2026, officially launching the national tour organized by France Culture and SNCF Gares & Connexions.
The event, organized with the participation of Hubs & Connexions and supported by the Government of the Principality of Monaco, will transform the station into a vibrant cultural space open to everyone.
The event will run throughout the day with five 30-minute dictation sessions scheduled at:
10:00 AM
11:00 AM
12:00 PM
2:00 PM
3:00 PM
Participation is free and open to all ages, from 7 to 99. No prior preparation is required, and materials such as notebooks and pens will be provided on site.
The goal is to make the French language accessible in a fun, engaging, and inclusive way.
For the first time, Monaco Monte-Carlo station will become a temporary classroom. Leading the experience will be Rachid Santaki, a well-known author who promotes dictation as an inclusive cultural activity.
Travelers and local residents will test their spelling skills with excerpts from classic French literature, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. No pressure: corrections will be done collectively, and papers will not be graded, making the experience enjoyable for everyone.
The 2026 edition of Dictée en Gare is dedicated to ocean and seabed protection, in tribute to the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, one of the Principality’s most iconic institutions.
The dictation texts will reflect this theme, raising awareness of environmental issues through language and culture.
The event will also feature:
local personalities introducing the readings
musical interludes by pianist Steve Villa-Massone between sessions
Dictée en Gare is part of a broader initiative to promote reading and mastery of the French language. Supported by France Culture and SNCF, the project aims to bring together people from different backgrounds through culture.
Students, language enthusiasts, or simply curious participants are all welcome to join this shared cultural experience.
After Monaco, the Dictée en Gare tour will continue in several French cities:

May 20: Saint-Quentin
June 17: Dieppe
