Between the French Riviera and Var: 27 beaches to experience the sea in freedom

Leave swimsuits and sarongs behind: here, it’s all about direct contact with the sun, the sea, and nature. According to the latest list by the Fédération Française de Naturisme, there are 27 officially designated naturist beaches and coves spread across Alpes-Maritimes and Var.

These unique spots are perfect for those who wish to enjoy the sea au naturel, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes ranging from wild cliffs to the most iconic sandy shores of the PACA region.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, naturism can be enjoyed at places such as Crique de l’Aiguille in Théoule-sur-Mer, Plage des Pissarelles in Cap-d’Ail, Plage de la Batterie in Cannes, and Plage du Phare in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. In Nice, the small and secluded Plage de la Plateforme awaits, while the Lérins Islands, with Plage des Pierres Hautes, offer a truly exclusive seaside escape.

The Var boasts an even wider selection: from the world-famous sands of Pampelonne in Ramatuelle, an icon of Riviera glamour, to the hidden bays of Saint-Tropez, and the beaches of Toulon and Le Lavandou. The latter is home to a true “naturist trio”: Plage du Layet, Crique du Layet, and Jean Blanc – Plage de l’Éléphant.
