Ballets de Monte-Carlo unveil the 2026–2027 season: world-class dance, new productions and international stars

The Principality of Monaco is preparing for another outstanding dance season. The Ballets de Monte-Carlo have unveiled their 2026–2027 programme, featuring a rich blend of classical repertoire, contemporary creations and internationally acclaimed choreographers, reinforcing the company’s reputation as one of the world’s leading dance institutions.

From October 2026 to May 2027, performances will take place at the prestigious Salle Garnier of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and the Grimaldi Forum, bringing together celebrated choreographers, internationally renowned dancers and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.

The season opens with Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Roméo et Juliette

The new season begins with one of the company’s signature productions: Roméo et Juliette, choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot, performed from 29 October to 1 November at the Salle Garnier.

Widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed interpretations of Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy, the ballet remains a cornerstone of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo repertoire and sets the tone for a season dedicated to artistic excellence.

December combines new creations and timeless classics

December will feature two major highlights. From 19 to 21 December, the Grimaldi Forum will host the world premiere of Bronia, a new creation by the KOR’SIA collective, founded by choreographers Antonio De Rosa and Mattia Russo.

The programme will also include Altro Canto, one of Jean-Christophe Maillot’s most poetic and celebrated works, offering audiences a dialogue between contemporary creativity and established choreography.

During the holiday season, audiences will once again enjoy Ma Bayadère, running from 28 December to 2 January, accompanied live by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Garrett Keast.

Monaco Dance Forum welcomes leading international choreographers

The Monaco Dance Forum 2027 will once again showcase some of the biggest names in contemporary dance.

On 22 April, British choreographer and performer Aakash Odedra will present Songs of the Bulbul at the Salle Garnier.

On 23 April, the Scirocco WindDance Company will perform at the Grimaldi Forum with a programme featuring Death in Venice, created by Imre & Marne van Opstal, Omar Román de Jesús and Rainer Behr, alongside Bridge of Sighs by legendary choreographer John Neumeier.

On 24 April, the spotlight turns to inclusive dance with Lever les Yeux, presented by Compagnie 6e Sens under the artistic direction of Cécile Martinez. Two days later, on 26 April, acclaimed flamenco innovator Israel Galván will perform La Consagración de la Primavera, accompanied by pianists Daria van den Bercken and Gerard Bouwhuis.

Season finale with the Bartók Evening

The season concludes from 27 April to 2 May with the Bartók Evening at the Grimaldi Forum.

The programme features Le Mandarin Merveilleux, choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot, alongside Le Prince de Bois, created by internationally acclaimed choreographer Alexei Ratmansky.

Performances will be accompanied by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Elias Grandy, bringing together symphonic music and exceptional dance performances.

Choré-Voix project for the Games of the Small States of Europe

The season will culminate in a special event on 17 May 2027, during the Opening Ceremony of the Games of the Small States of Europe.

The Monaco Dance Forum will present the Choré-Voix Project, an original performance created for Prince’s Palace Square.

Further details will be announced in the coming months, but the production is already expected to be one of the cultural highlights of the year, combining dance, music and sport in one of Monaco’s most iconic locations.

With an ambitious programme that blends classical masterpieces, innovative creations and internationally renowned artists, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo once again confirm the Principality’s position as one of Europe’s leading destinations for dance and performing arts.
