MONACO – Futurism returns to the stage with Gran Serata Futurista, a performance combining theatre, dance, music and visual imagery to pay tribute to one of the most revolutionary artistic and cultural movements in Italian history. The event will take place on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Théâtre des Variétés in Monaco, featuring Massimiliano Finazzer Flory and dancer Chiara Taviani.

Part of the 2026–2027 season of Il Teatro della Vita and presented within the framework of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the performance offers an opportunity to rediscover the relevance of Futurist thought through an artistic experience that brings together tradition and technology, movement and emotion.

Gran Serata Futurista: A Tribute to Filippo Tommaso Marinetti

Marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, founder of Futurism, Gran Serata Futurista celebrates the legacy of a movement that transformed the way art, culture and the future were understood.

Emerging in the early twentieth century, Futurism championed a radically innovative vision based on dynamism, speed, action and the rejection of traditional models. These principles lie at the heart of the performance, which does more than recount the history of an artistic movement: it brings its disruptive energy and revolutionary spirit to life on stage.

The result is a tribute to the love of life, the beauty of progress and the human capacity for reinvention. Human beings, with their creativity and drive for change, become the focus of a performance that looks to the past to explore the present.

Theatre, Dance, Music and Technology Take the Stage in Monaco

Gran Serata Futurista moves beyond the boundaries of traditional theatre. Alongside spoken performance, dance and music help create a dynamic stage language, enhanced by projected images and visual elements that interact with the live performance.

The evening will feature Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, the show’s author and performer, and Chiara Taviani, whose dance translates the central themes of Futurism into physical movement. Together, they explore energy, transformation, innovation and the search for new forms of artistic expression.

Technology is not merely a decorative feature but an integral part of the dialogue between different artistic languages. Tradition and innovation meet in a performance designed to engage audiences through images, sounds, words and movement.

The Week of the Italian Language in the World in Monaco

The event is part of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, an initiative dedicated to promoting Italian language and culture internationally.

Through Marinetti’s legacy and the innovative force of Futurism, the performance highlights a pivotal chapter in Italian cultural history. It also demonstrates how Italian creativity continues to engage international audiences through theatre and the performing arts.

The event in Monaco underscores the importance of cultural programmes as opportunities to bring people together and share Italy’s artistic heritage beyond national borders.
