MONACO – A morning dedicated to the environment and the care of public spaces. This is the aim of the initiative organized by the Monaco City Council as part of World Cleanup Day 2026, the international campaign dedicated to waste collection and raising awareness about the importance of keeping the planet clean.
The event in Monaco is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, at 9:30 a.m., with participants meeting at the Caroline Library (Médiathèque Caroline). From there, an eco-march will get underway, during which participants will collect waste along the route.
The Monaco City Council (Mairie de Monaco) has been taking part in World Cleanup Day since 2019, and in 2026 it is once again confirming its commitment to environmental awareness and action.
The initiative is designed to turn an environmental awareness day into a concrete opportunity for public participation. Participants will be directly involved in cleaning the areas covered by the march, collecting litter and helping improve the cleanliness and appearance of Monaco’s public spaces.
World Cleanup Day is an international initiative that brings together citizens, associations, schools, businesses and institutions in activities focused on waste collection and raising awareness of pollution and littering.
The official date of World Cleanup Day 2026 is September 20, although activities can also take place in the days leading up to the official date as part of the wider week of international environmental action.
By holding its event on September 19, Monaco will therefore join the global calendar of initiatives linked to the campaign, promoting concrete action and greater awareness of waste-related issues.
To ensure that participants have the necessary equipment for the collection, the required materials will be provided by the Société Monégasque d’Assainissement (SMA).
The organization of the event is intended to encourage broad public participation, turning waste collection into a practical and shared community activity.
Participation in the initiative requires advance registration.
Those wishing to join the waste-collection march must register by sending an email to environnement@mairie.mc.
The event details are:
A morning open to everyone who wants to contribute to environmental protection and help care for Monaco’s territory, taking part in a practical initiative that is part of a worldwide movement for a cleaner planet.
