Saint-Paul-de-Vence turns into a comedy theatre: RempArts du rire returns

For three evenings, from 3 to 5 September 2026, Saint-Paul-de-Vence will become a stage dedicated to humour and live entertainment. RempArts du rire returns for its second edition, bringing stand-up, comedy and theatre to one of the Côte d’Azur’s most renowned villages.

The festival combines established performers and emerging talents with different styles of comedy. It is also an opportunity to experience Saint-Paul-de-Vence from a different perspective, beyond its artistic heritage and medieval atmosphere.

Three evenings of stand-up, cabaret and theatre

The festival will take place in the evening, with the site opening to the public at 6:30 pm and performances beginning at 8:30 pm. Before and after the shows, visitors can enjoy food trucks and the B’Art du rire, creating an informal atmosphere inspired by the world of cabaret.

The programme is divided into three evenings, each with its own identity and selection of performers from the French comedy scene.

Thursday 3 September: stand-up opens the festival

The opening night of RempArts du rire will focus on stand-up comedy, with a line-up of comedians launching the second edition of the festival.

The format puts the emphasis on direct interaction with the audience and a variety of comedic styles, turning Saint-Paul-de-Vence into a lively venue for contemporary comedy.

Friday 4 September: four comedians take the stage

The second evening, on Friday 4 September, will feature Urbain Courty, Youness Hanifi, Cécile Marx and Eliott Doyle.

Comedian, actor and podcaster Urbain Courty is known for his cynical and self-deprecating humour. Youness Hanifi brings an energetic style built around everyday situations and observations.

Cécile Marx combines absurdity with dark humour, while Eliott Doyle draws on improvisation, audience interaction and constant changes of pace.

The result is an evening offering four different approaches to modern stand-up comedy.

Saturday 5 September: stand-up followed by theatre

The final day will offer the most varied programme of the festival. The stand-up line-up includes Gabrielle Giraud, Mado, Basile and Adel Fugazi.

Among the performers is Adel Fugazi, winner of the Festival d’Humour de Paris and a member of the Jamel Comedy Club troupe.

Gabrielle Giraud will also bring her Mediterranean-inspired comic universe to Saint-Paul-de-Vence. The Marseille-based actress, comedian and director draws on personal experiences and observations of everyday life.

“Notre Humble avis” brings the festival to a close

The festival will conclude with a theatre performance.

At 8:30 pm on Saturday 5 September, audiences can see “Notre Humble avis”, a comedy written and directed by Igor Mendjisky.

The story follows the inhabitants of a village who decide to create their own radio programme. Their goal is to discuss books, films and works of art freely, but the project soon turns into a series of absurd situations and clashes between very different personalities.

Through comedy, the play also explores themes including freedom of expression and the right to have and express an opinion.

Saint-Paul-de-Vence between culture and entertainment

The setting of Saint-Paul-de-Vence adds a distinctive dimension to the festival, combining heritage, culture and entertainment.

The medieval village, famous for its long-standing links with artists and intellectuals, becomes for three days a venue dedicated to contemporary comedy.

RempArts du rire 2026 therefore offers a different way to experience Saint-Paul-de-Vence, moving beyond its traditional image as an artists’ village and welcoming an audience interested in stand-up, cabaret and theatre.
