New National Museum of Monaco: Contemporary Art, Open-Air Cinema and Gourmet Experiences at Villa Paloma on August 6

The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM) is once again inviting visitors to one of its popular Nocturne evenings, offering a unique blend of contemporary art, auteur cinema, and gastronomy. The event will take place on Thursday, August 6, in the enchanting setting of Villa Paloma, one of the Principality’s most prestigious cultural venues.

The evening begins at 6:00 p.m., when guests can relax in the villa’s panoramic gardens while enjoying breathtaking views over Monaco. Visitors will also have the opportunity to sample a selection of food and drinks prepared by Monaco Vinalia Gourmet at the Régulus, creating the perfect atmosphere for a summer cultural evening.

Until 9:00 p.m., admission to the exhibition “Victor Brauner, L’Aventure magique” will be free of charge. The exhibition offers visitors the chance to discover the visionary world of one of Surrealism’s leading figures, exploring the artist’s symbolic imagination and distinctive creative language.

At 9:00 p.m., Villa Paloma’s gardens will be transformed into an open-air cinema for the screening of Memoria (2021), directed by acclaimed Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, one of the most influential voices in contemporary world cinema.

Winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 for Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives and later recipient of the Jury Prize, Weerasethakul continues his exploration of memory, dreams, time, and metaphysical perception in Memoria.

Starring Tilda Swinton, alongside Elkin Díaz and Jeanne Balibar, the film follows a Scottish botanist specializing in orchids who travels to Bogotá to visit her ill sister. During her stay, she meets a French archaeologist and a young Colombian musician while becoming increasingly haunted by a mysterious sound that only she can hear. Set against Colombia’s lush natural landscapes, Memoria offers a meditative cinematic experience where visual beauty and immersive soundscapes merge into a story that blurs the boundaries between reality and inner consciousness.

With this latest Nocturne, the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco once again demonstrates its commitment to creating multidisciplinary cultural experiences that bring together visual arts, international cinema, and convivial moments in one of Monaco’s most spectacular settings.
