The city of Menton will host the 40th edition of the Menton Sun Race 2026 from May 23 to 24, 2026, one of the most iconic running events on the French Riviera, formerly known as “Ronde des Plages de Menton”.

The event takes place along the city’s scenic seafront, offering participants a unique sporting experience between the Mediterranean Sea and the Maritime Alps, just a few kilometers from the Italian border.

A historic race between sea and mountains

The Menton Sun Race is widely recognized as one of the most important running competitions in the region, thanks to its distinctive routes combining coastal scenery and hilly natural trails.

The 2026 edition continues its multi-sport identity with a rich program designed for athletes, families, and running enthusiasts, turning Menton into a vibrant outdoor sports hub.

The event weekend includes a wide range of races and activities:

  • 4 children’s races
  • a 5 km walking event
  • 3 trail races:
    • 46 km with 3,043 m elevation gain
    • 20 km with 1,383 m elevation gain
    • 13 km with 785 m elevation gain

The 5 km and 10 km road races remain the main highlights of the event, attracting large numbers of participants each year.

The 10 km race is particularly prestigious, considered the oldest 10 km road race in the Maritime Alps. It is officially certified by the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme (FFA) and serves as a qualification event for the French national championships.

A scenic route along the “Pearl of France”

The course of the Menton Sun Race 2026 runs along the Mediterranean coastline, offering runners breathtaking views of the sea and the city of Menton, often called the “Pearl of France”.

The event is open to participants aged 6 and above, with registration fees ranging from €3 to €18 depending on the race category.
