From May 11 to September 27, 2026, the Monaco Stamp and Coin Museum will host the exhibition “Voyage au fil du timbre”, an exhibition journey that takes visitors through the history of transportation and communication. Held at the Terrasses de Fontvieille, the exhibition features a remarkable selection of more than 180 postage stamps and a rare postal document dating back to 1870, exceptionally loaned by the Prince’s Palace.

The exhibition offers an immersive journey through different eras and technological innovations, highlighting how the evolution of transportation transformed society, trade, and the circulation of ideas. From the first messengers traveling on foot or horseback to the most modern technologies, the exhibition reveals humanity’s constant drive to overcome the limits of distance and speed.

The stamps on display become genuine historical witnesses, documenting the profound changes in transportation networks and their impact on economic and social development. Through philately, the exhibition presents an original interdisciplinary perspective combining culture, technology, art, and history.

A dedicated section also explores the evolution of leisure and racing automobiles. Featuring iconic vehicles, this part of the exhibition retraces the technical and aesthetic transformations of cars from their origins to the present day, reflecting the enduring fascination with speed, performance, and the spirit of independence embodied by motor racing.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors discover how the history of transportation is reflected in philately, offering a cultural experience that connects historical memory with innovation.
