In the French Riviera, the free compost distribution organized by the Communauté de la Riviera française (CARF) is back as part of the 13th edition of the national campaign “Tous au Compost!”. The initiative will take place from March 27 to 29, 2026 in local recycling centers (déchèteries) across the area.

The initiative aims to promote home composting and eco-friendly practices, providing residents with a natural fertilizer made from green waste collected at the same facilities. A concrete example of circular economy and sustainability.

📍 Locations and dates

The free compost distribution in the French Riviera will not follow the same schedule in all municipalities:

  • In Tende (Chemin de Lubaira recycling center) and Breil-sur-Roya, distribution will take place on March 27 and 28, 2026
  • In Menton, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Sospel, and La Turbie, the initiative runs on March 27 and 28, with an additional day on March 29 (Menton only)

♻️ Quantity and requirements

Each household can collect up to 40 liters of free compost (2 bags of 20 liters), while supplies last.

To access the service, participants must bring:

  • a valid ID
  • a recent proof of address (less than 3 months old)

🌱 Why use compost

The compost distributed is a natural fertilizer ideal for gardens and indoor plants, especially in spring. For best results, it should be spread over the top 5 cm of soil without deep burial, allowing earthworms and natural processes to incorporate it.

This simple action helps improve soil fertility, reduce organic waste, and support environmental sustainability.

The free compost distribution in the French Riviera once again proves to be a practical and eco-friendly initiative highly appreciated by residents.
