The Parish of Saint-Charles in Monaco is preparing to celebrate one of the most meaningful events of the liturgical year: the Patronal Feast of Saint Charles Borromeo, scheduled for Sunday, November 9, 2025.
An occasion that unites faith, tradition and community, in a spirit of prayer, gratitude and fellowship.

The Solemn Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the Église Saint-Charles, followed by the traditional “Verre de l’Amitié” in the Salle Louis Brisson—a convivial gathering to strengthen the bonds within the parish community.
Exceptionally, there will be no Mass at 8:30 a.m. or 12:00 p.m., while a Mass in Italian will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m.

A Saint of Faith and Renewal

Born in Arona, on Lake Maggiore, in 1538, Saint Charles Borromeo came from a noble family and received a deep education in law and theology. Nephew of Pope Pius IV, he entered the service of the Holy See at a young age, but later renounced wealth and privilege to dedicate his life entirely to God and the Church.

As Archbishop of Milan, he became one of the leading figures of the Catholic Reformation, founding seminaries, schools, and numerous charitable institutions. During the devastating plague of 1576, he personally tended to the sick and comforted the afflicted, embodying a model of active charity, humility and courage.

He died in 1584, at the age of 46, and was canonized in 1610 by Pope Paul V. His life remains a timeless example of discipline, devotion, and pastoral service for the entire Church.

An Invitation to the Community

For the parish of Monaco, the Feast of Saint Charles represents a time to renew one’s faith and nurture the spirit of unity that animates parish life.
It is an opportunity to rediscover the spiritual roots that sustain the city and to celebrate a patron saint who continues to inspire with his message of faith, service, and compassion.
