With the reopening of the new Tenda Tunnel, starting Saturday, June 28, 2025, direct passage between Piedmont, Liguria, and France is restored. However, during this initial phase, traffic will be regulated by specific schedules and transit procedures designed to ensure safety and allow for the completion of ongoing works.
Weekends: 06:00 – 21:00
Weekdays:
Morning: 06:00 – 09:00
Lunch break: 12:30 – 14:30
Evening: 18:00 – 22:00
A new meeting between Italian and French authorities is scheduled for mid-July (16–17 July 2025) to consider extending the continuous opening hours from 06:00 to 21:00 throughout the summer, starting July 18, 2025.
Traffic will be regulated with alternating one-way flow, managed by intelligent traffic lights.
During peak hours, waiting times of up to 45 minutes may occur.
Until September 2025, vehicles over 3.5 tons are prohibited from transiting for operational safety reasons. The ban will be lifted only after the full activation of the centralized tunnel control system.
If you’re planning to cross the tunnel, always check the updated schedule and plan your trip in advance. The new tunnel offers a scenic and functional route to reach the Riviera dei Fiori, Nice, Ventimiglia, or Cuneo — but a little patience is still required during this transitional phase.
