Mme Isabelle ROSABRUNETTO, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation, and H.E. Mr. Jean D’HAUSSONVILLE, Ambassador of France to Monaco, renewed on Friday, March 14, the commitment of both countries to support youth in the Mediterranean region.
Fifteen civil society organizations from the Mediterranean region have been selected as winners of the 5th edition of the J-MED call for projects, launched last November on the occasion of Mediterranean Day.

Operated by the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) and the MedNC (Mediterranean New Chance) network, this 5th edition is supported by the Princely Government, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Fondation de France, and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region.

Targeting civil society organizations (CSOs) from Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritania, and Tunisia, in partnership with other Mediterranean stakeholders, J-MED has been supporting young people for five years through a wide range of initiatives. The program funds projects in training and professional integration, entrepreneurship, education, the empowerment of girls and women, culture, heritage preservation, sports, and the environment.

Like previous editions, this initiative has generated strong interest, receiving nearly 300 applications and selecting fifteen projects designed for and by young people from the southern, eastern, and northern shores of the Mediterranean. Over five editions, the J-MED call for projects has supported around a hundred local initiatives, benefiting more than 3,000 young people.

Mme ROSABRUNETTO stated:
“The Government of Monaco is actively committed to supporting youth in the Mediterranean. We are pleased that the J-MED initiative, created five years ago in collaboration with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, provides young people, especially young women, with opportunities to reach their full potential and build their future.”

The French Ambassador to Monaco, H.E. Mr. Jean D’HAUSSONVILLE, welcomed the continuation of this cooperation, emphasizing:
“The J-MED call for projects allows us, together with our Monegasque partners, to support youth engagement on key priority issues for France, such as climate change adaptation, youth employment, and women’s economic empowerment. J-MED pays particular attention to projects targeting vulnerable populations, especially women and girls in rural areas, as well as young people with limited access to job opportunities. Furthermore, five of the selected projects in 2025 reflect our support for Lebanese civil society in strengthening the resilience of communities in a crisis context.”

As a reminder, cooperation between Monaco and France in the field of development in Africa and the Mediterranean is based on a Partnership Agreement signed in 2010.
