On Thursday, February 6, at the Ministry of State, under the aegis of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation, the first meeting of the Steering Committee responsible for organizing the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe was held. Monaco will hold this presidency for the first time in its history for six months starting in May 2026.
This COPIL, bringing together all the Government Departments and the Directorate of Judicial Services, allowed for the outline of the major plans and events of this semester of presidency, which will be shared between the Principality and Strasbourg, the headquarters of the Council of Europe. It also provided an opportunity to sketch out the organization of such an event.
This intense period of international activities will allow the Principality to highlight values it shares with the European institution, such as the ethics of sports, child protection, and the fight against violence against women. It will conclude with the Conference of Ministers of Sport of the Council of Europe at the Grimaldi Forum in early November 2026, once again under the Monegasque presidency.
