The military personnel of the Monaco Firefighters Corps gathered on Thursday, January 9, at Place du Campanin in Fontvieille for the ceremony of handing over intervention helmets to four young recruits. Under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Maxime Yvrard, Chief of the Corps, this ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Lionel Beffre, Government Advisor – Minister of the Interior, Colonel Tony Varo, Commander of the Public Force, and Father Christian Venard, Chaplain of the Public Force, who blessed the helmets.
The new recruits are part of the promotion named “Sergeant Major Thierry Perard,” in honor of the firefighter who died in the line of duty during the fire at the building located at 21, Avenue Princesse Garce, on June 19, 2022. The ceremony was attended by his wife and daughter.
The intervention helmets were handed over to the recruits by their respective godfathers, thus solemnly marking the end of a five-month training course. This act symbolizes their commitment and belonging to the Corps. It also signifies the brotherly bond now uniting them with their comrades-in-arms, as they join to carry out missions for the protection and safeguarding of people and property, both in the Principality and in the neighboring municipalities.
They will proudly and with dignity share the Corps’ motto: “Courage – Dedication – Sacrifice.”
