A Monegasque delegation, led by Madame Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Government Counselor and Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, traveled to Vienna from November 25 to 27, 2024, to take part in the Ministerial Conference on Science, Technology, and Nuclear Applications, as well as the technical cooperation program of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
This exceptional conference aimed to strengthen international cooperation and explore innovations in the nuclear field, while highlighting the role of science, technology, and nuclear applications in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
In her speech, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï emphasized the importance that the Principality of Monaco attaches to the peaceful use of science, technology, and nuclear applications.
The Minister-Counselor also reiterated the Princely Government’s support for the activities of the IAEA’s Marine Environment Laboratories, which have been hosted in the Principality since 1961, and reminded the audience of the personal commitment of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince to environmental preservation and the fight against the effects of climate change, particularly on the oceans. In this regard, she shared the recent conclusion of a partnership between the Prince Albert II Foundation and the IAEA to collaborate on issues such as ocean acidification, ocean changes, and plastic pollution.
Finally, she highlighted the priority Monaco gives to the Agency’s activities in the field of human health, as demonstrated by its long-standing support for cancer research through the “Rayons d’espoir” initiative.
