The 29th European Heritage Days are themed this year around “Routes, Networks, and Connections.”
An active port since antiquity and a popular vacation spot during the Belle Époque thanks to the arrival of the railway, the Principality of Monaco has, throughout its history, been at the center of cultural exchanges.
Through its architectural, artistic, and religious heritage, the Principality invites visitors to rediscover the traces and pathways of history that have shaped its territory and define its uniqueness.
On the occasion of these Heritage Days, 46 sites and tours will allow the public to explore locations that reflect the richness and diversity of Monegasque heritage. Cultural figures, professionals, and associations will open their doors for a journey through Monaco’s history.
The Principality has been participating in the European Heritage Days since 1996. Jointly initiated by the Council of Europe and the European Union, this event is now celebrated in more than 50 European countries, welcoming nearly 30 million visitors each year.
Since 2018, the event has been organized by the Heritage Institute, under the aegis of the Department of Cultural Affairs.
The Principality first took part in the European Heritage Days in 1996. Initiated by the Council of Europe, this event is now celebrated by more than 50 European countries that are signatories to the European Cultural Convention. Approximately 70,000 events are organized on this occasion across Europe, with 30 million visitors expected.
