For some of these incredible decorations, up to 15 tons of citrus are required.<\/p>\n

Step into the Biov\u00e8s Gardens and discover the gigantic compositions of golden fruits, rich in a tradition expertly preserved since the beginning of the last century\u2026<\/p>\n

During the festival, the Biov\u00e8s Gardens dress in the color of the sun, in dazzling shades of yellow and orange.<\/p>\n

For some of these incredible decorations, up to 15 tons of citrus are required… Every year, thousands of hours of work are needed to create these ephemeral sculptures in which the fruits are arranged one by one\u2026<\/p>\n

In the second half of the 19th century, Menton welcomed members of high society from all over Europe. This golden era ended with the First World War.<\/p>\n

The annexation to France coincided with the development of tourism under the impetus of Henry Bennet’s medical theories and the start of major urban works: the harbor, the railway in 1869. From 1872, the city expanded. Arteries were opened to the West and then in the 1880s to the East with the Boulevard de Garavan. Palaces and villas were built in all these new neighborhoods. Since then, Menton has become one of the essential holiday destinations for the aristocracy and the wealthy during the Belle \u00c9poque.<\/p>\n

In 1922, Vicente Blasco Iba\u00f1ez, a politician, and writer, bought a property in the heart of Garavan, called Fontana Rosa. He patiently recreated a corner of his native Valencia in this garden: historic ceramic tiles, pergolas, fountains, and flower pots with vibrant decorations…<\/p>\n
