The Principality of Monaco is preparing for its National Day, one of the most important events in the official calendar and in the life of the Grimaldi family. For the 2026 celebrations, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène have planned a special initiative for Monegasque citizens aged over 60: the traditional distribution of gifts, which will be entrusted to Princess Stéphanie this year.

The announcement was shared through the official Instagram account of the Palais Princier. The initiative is part of the wider National Day programme and reflects the bond between the Princely Family and the local community.

The initiative is reserved for Monegasque citizens aged over 60. To receive a gift, eligible residents must register by 22 October 2026, either by telephone or online, using the methods indicated by the Principality’s authorities.

The nature of the gifts has not yet been revealed. However, the date and location of the presentation have been announced: Wednesday, 18 November 2026, from 2.30 pm, at the Foyer des Aînés Monégasques, the centre dedicated to older residents of the Principality.

Princess Stéphanie will personally present the gifts to the recipients on the eve of National Day. The event offers an opportunity to meet members of the Princely Family and provides a special moment for Monaco’s older community ahead of the official celebrations.

Celebrated every year on 19 November, Monaco’s National Day brings the Principality together for official ceremonies, institutional events and public festivities.

Among the most anticipated traditions are the military parades, the presentation of honours and the appearance of the Princely Family on the balcony of the Prince’s Palace, a moment that attracts the attention of residents and visitors alike.

Celebrations continue into the evening with official receptions and social events. National Day holds a central place in Monaco’s identity and offers an opportunity to see the Grimaldi family together during the official ceremonies.

The initiative for residents over 60 forms part of this broader programme, combining the Principality’s traditions with opportunities to connect with the local community.

Autumn 2026 is also an important period for Prince Albert II’s environmental work. On 16 October, his foundation celebrated 20 years of activity during the traditional Planetary Health Awards ceremony.

The event took place at the Salle des Étoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo, bringing together nearly 400 guests to mark the anniversary and honour individuals and initiatives working to protect the planet.

The celebration provided an opportunity to reflect on the foundation’s achievements and highlight major global environmental challenges. This commitment to sustainability complements the Princely Family’s institutional duties and public engagements.

From the presentation of gifts to older residents to the official ceremonies and appearances by the Grimaldi family, November remains one of the most significant months in Monaco’s public life.

The gift-giving event on 18 November adds a personal moment to the celebrations, while attention will turn to the official National Day programme the following day.

For Monegasque citizens, the occasion is an important celebration of national traditions. For visitors, it also offers an opportunity to discover the ceremonies and symbols of Monaco’s monarchy.

The Principality of Monaco is preparing for its National Day, one of the most important events in the official calendar and in the life of the Grimaldi family.
