The Principality of Monaco is preparing to celebrate an important musical milestone. On Friday, 6 November 2026, at 8 pm, the Salle Prince Pierre at the Grimaldi Forum will host a special concert marking the 60th anniversary of the Prince’s Carabiniers Orchestra. The evening will bring together tradition, artistic talent and charitable commitment.

More than 80 performers, including musicians and distinguished guest artists, will take to the stage for a musical journey across different genres and eras. From classical music to jazz, rock ’n’ roll and popular music, the programme promises an engaging experience for a diverse audience, celebrating the history of an ensemble that has become an integral part of the Principality’s musical identity.

The event will take place at the prestigious Grimaldi Forum Monaco and will also have a charitable purpose: the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, which supports social initiatives through its various projects.

Sixty Years of Musical History: The Legacy of Prince Rainier III

The history of the Prince’s Carabiniers Orchestra dates back to 19 November 1966, when, at the request of Prince Rainier III, a Monegasque fanfare performed for the first time on the Rock of Monaco.

Six decades later, the ensemble has established a rich musical tradition, participating in official ceremonies and contributing to some of the Principality’s most significant institutional occasions.

The 2026 anniversary is therefore more than a celebration of a milestone. It is an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of an orchestra that has remained faithful to its origins while embracing new musical styles and artistic collaborations.

Classical Music, Jazz, Rock and International Hits at the Grimaldi Forum

The concert will be conducted by Major Olivier Drean, who has led the ensemble since 2013. Under his direction, the anniversary programme will showcase the musicians’ versatility and their ability to move between different musical traditions.

Among the announced guest performers are internationally acclaimed singer China Moses, trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary and Corsican singer Florian Carli.

The evening will also feature the Monte-Carlo Opera Chorus, members of the French Army Choir and a string quartet from the Académie Rainier III. Bringing together different voices, instruments and artistic sensibilities, these collaborations will help make the concert a highlight of Monaco’s cultural calendar.

The programme will also include a duet for accordion and trumpet, as well as a tribute to Lionel Richie, one of the most recognisable figures in international popular music. This eclectic selection reflects the orchestra’s ambition to combine musical tradition with popular sounds in a performance designed to surprise and delight audiences.

Who Are the Prince’s Carabiniers, and What Is Their Role in Monaco?

The Prince’s Carabiniers Orchestra is closely linked to the Prince’s Carabiniers Company, of which it is a distinctive component. The ensemble consists of 25 carabiniers who are also musicians. Alongside their musical activities, they carry out the company’s regular duties and participate in official ceremonies.

Since 2014, the ensemble has officially borne the name Prince’s Carabiniers Orchestra, reflecting its role within Monaco’s institutions.

Its activities extend beyond the Principality’s borders. Since 1989, the orchestra has also represented the Sovereign Prince at events abroad, helping promote Monaco’s cultural and institutional identity through music.

The 60th-anniversary concert will therefore provide an opportunity to discover an ensemble that combines discipline, public service and artistic excellence.

A Charity Concert Supporting the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation

Alongside the musical celebrations, the 6 November event will have an important charitable objective. The proceeds from the concert will go to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, adding a meaningful philanthropic dimension to an event that is already significant for Monaco’s cultural heritage.

Music will become a way of supporting a social cause, bringing artists and audiences together through an initiative that combines entertainment with a commitment to the community.

The event also highlights the role of cultural performances as opportunities for public engagement, celebrating Monaco’s artistic heritage while contributing to charitable projects.
