From 8 to 11 July 2026<\/strong>, the Yacht Club de Monaco will host the 13th edition of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge<\/strong>, one of the world\u2019s leading events dedicated to sustainable boating and zero-emission propulsion technologies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 2026 edition sets a new record with 56 teams from 22 countries<\/strong>, confirming the event\u2019s rapid growth and its central role in the maritime energy transition.<\/p>\n

\n

A global event for the future of boating<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Held under the initiative \u201cMonaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting\u201d, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge brings together students, engineers, shipyards, and major industrial players to accelerate the development of innovative marine propulsion systems.<\/p>\n

For the first time, teams from the United States and China<\/strong> will participate, further strengthening the event\u2019s global reach.<\/p>\n

Competitors will take part in four categories:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Energy Class<\/li>\n
  • IA Class (autonomous, driverless vessels)<\/li>\n
  • SeaLab Class<\/li>\n
  • Open Sea Xperience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    \n

    Open Sea Xperience: bridging prototypes and real-world application<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The Open Sea Xperience<\/strong> category is one of the most strategic parts of the event, acting as a real-world test platform for certified zero-emission vessels (CE certified)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    In 2026, 16 teams<\/strong> will present electric, hydrogen, and hybrid vessels designed for operational performance testing in real maritime conditions.<\/p>\n

    Key projects include:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Wia 520HT by Wia Electric Yachts, a 16-meter electric catamaran<\/li>\n
    • KRONOS 300 propulsion systems developed by Weenav<\/li>\n
    • next-generation solar and electric propulsion solutions<\/li>\n
    • autonomous navigation and electric jet systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The boats will be displayed and open to the public, offering a tangible view of the future of sustainable yachting.<\/p>\n

      \n

      Technology, research, and industry working together<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      The event is part of the \u201cMonaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting\u201d initiative and is supported by major partners including the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco, UBS, BMW, SBM Offshore, and leading industry groups such as Ferretti Group, Azimut | Benetti, and L\u00fcrssen.<\/p>\n

      According to Bernard d\u2019Alessandri, Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco, the event enables teams to test technologies in real conditions while engaging directly with the industry, accelerating innovation transfer.<\/p>\n

      An international ecosystem for students and engineers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Since its launch in 2014, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge has involved:<\/p>\n

      • over 6,500 students<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • around 400 teams<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • more than 50 universities<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • approximately 35 nationalities<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The 2026 edition includes:<\/p>\n

        • 34 universities<\/li>\n
        • 22 nationalities<\/li>\n
        • over 1,000 students<\/li>\n
        • 49 electric projects<\/li>\n
        • 6 hydrogen projects<\/li>\n
        • 1 methanol project<\/li>\n
        • 10 foiling projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          A program combining racing and global conferences<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          Alongside on-water competitions (speed, slalom, endurance, and championship), the event offers a rich land-based program.<\/p>\n

          9 July \u2013 Advanced Yachting Technology Conference<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          Focused on cutting-edge innovation in maritime and yachting technologies.<\/p>\n

          10 July \u2013 Alternative Fuels & Sustainable Yachting Conference<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          Organized by the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco, this session will explore:<\/p>\n
