Biodiversity Committee of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Alpine Convention<\/strong> met on <strong data-start=\"391\" data-end=\"413\">12 and 13 February<\/strong> at the <strong data-start=\"421\" data-end=\"462\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Auditorium Rainier III<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"466\" data-end=\"518\">finalise the new Alpine Biodiversity Action Plan<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"522\" \/>This key strategic document will be <strong data-start=\"558\" data-end=\"634\">submitted for adoption at the next <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Alpine Conference<\/strong>, scheduled for <strong data-start=\"650\" data-end=\"666\">January 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"669\" data-end=\"876\">Delegations from <strong data-start=\"686\" data-end=\"755\">Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France and Monaco<\/strong> worked together to make the <strong data-start=\"784\" data-end=\"805\">final adjustments<\/strong> to the plan, the result of several years of international cooperation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"1297\">Ms <strong data-start=\"881\" data-end=\"905\">Astrid Claudel-Rusin<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"963\">Head of Section at the Department of the Environment<\/strong>, who co-chairs one of the Committee\u2019s thematic working groups, stressed <strong data-start=\"1036\" data-end=\"1090\">the importance of concluding the preparation phase<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1095\" data-end=\"1153\">sharing in Monaco the outcomes of the work carried out<\/strong> within the <strong data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1198\">four core pillars of the plan<\/strong>:<br data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1202\" \/><strong data-start=\"1202\" data-end=\"1218\">conservation<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1235\">restoration<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1264\">ecological connectivity<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1269\" data-end=\"1296\">biodiversity monitoring<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1670\">Discussions held in Monaco made it possible to <strong data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1387\">combine different national approaches<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1389\" data-end=\"1429\">strengthen synergies between experts<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1465\">consolidate a shared vision<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1466\" data-end=\"1469\" \/>The plan aims to <strong data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1543\">address the major challenges facing Alpine ecosystems<\/strong>, in a context shaped by <strong data-start=\"1568\" data-end=\"1586\">climate change<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1633\">increasing pressure from human activities<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1669\">changing land-use practices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1672\" data-end=\"1845\">The future Action Plan is intended to become a <strong data-start=\"1719\" data-end=\"1749\">common reference framework<\/strong>, supporting long-term policies for the protection of biodiversity throughout the Alpine
