{"id":26158,"date":"2025-11-04T11:31:58","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T10:31:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/montecarloliving.com\/?p=26158"},"modified":"2025-11-04T11:33:32","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T10:33:32","slug":"monaco-imsee-renews-its-study-on-the-gender-pay-gap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montecarloliving.com\/en\/actuality\/monaco-imsee-renews-its-study-on-the-gender-pay-gap-26158\/","title":{"rendered":"Monaco: IMSEE renews its study on the gender pay gap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"281\" data-end=\"590\">The <strong data-start=\"285\" data-end=\"348\">Monaco Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (IMSEE)<\/strong> has released a <strong data-start=\"364\" data-end=\"441\">new analysis of wage differences between women and men in Monaco for 2024<\/strong>, continuing the work initiated with the first study in 2019, commissioned by the <strong data-start=\"523\" data-end=\"587\">Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women\u2019s Rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"904\">The institute has <strong data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"645\">maintained the same methodology<\/strong> as in the initial report, using <strong data-start=\"678\" data-end=\"729\">data provided by the Caisses Sociales de Monaco<\/strong> for <strong data-start=\"734\" data-end=\"762\">private-sector employees<\/strong>, and complementing it with information from the <strong data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"871\">Department of Human Resources and Civil Service Training<\/strong> for <strong data-start=\"876\" data-end=\"901\">public-sector workers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"1334\">In the <strong data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"930\">public sector<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"936\" data-end=\"972\">average indexed salary for women<\/strong> is now <strong data-start=\"980\" data-end=\"1008\">2.4% higher than for men<\/strong>, compared to <strong data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1043\">only 0.7% in 2019<\/strong>. Moreover, the <strong data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1106\">proportion of women in high-level positions<\/strong> is now <strong data-start=\"1114\" data-end=\"1130\">almost equal<\/strong>, reaching <strong data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1150\">49.1%<\/strong> (up from 47% in 2019). However, when analyzing <strong data-start=\"1198\" data-end=\"1226\">job categories (A, B, C)<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1269\">men still earn higher average indices<\/strong>, although these differences have <strong data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1331\">narrowed in recent years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1715\">In the <strong data-start=\"1343\" data-end=\"1361\">private sector<\/strong>, the gap remains but shows <strong data-start=\"1389\" data-end=\"1411\">marked improvement<\/strong>: in 2024, the <strong data-start=\"1426\" data-end=\"1459\">average monthly salary of men<\/strong> is <strong data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1479\">18.6% higher<\/strong> than that of women, compared to <strong data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1529\">28.5% in 2019<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1530\" data-end=\"1533\" \/>As for the <strong data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1559\">hourly wage<\/strong>, which adjusts for differences in working time, the <strong data-start=\"1612\" data-end=\"1638\">gap decreases to 16.4%<\/strong> (from 20.9% in 2019), equivalent to <strong data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1698\">\u20ac5.10 more per hour<\/strong> earned by men.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1717\" data-end=\"2060\">However, these averages can be <strong data-start=\"1748\" data-end=\"1806\">distorted by a small number of very high male salaries<\/strong>. When considering the <strong data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1846\">median salary<\/strong>, the disparity <strong data-start=\"1862\" data-end=\"1886\">virtually disappears<\/strong>: the difference stands at just <strong data-start=\"1918\" data-end=\"1926\">0.1%<\/strong>, or <strong data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"1963\">\u20ac1.90 more per month for men<\/strong>. For comparison, in 2023, this gap was <strong data-start=\"2003\" data-end=\"2021\">6.2% in France<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2026\" data-end=\"2057\">11.5% across OECD countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2062\" data-end=\"2316\">Beyond the 2024 snapshot, IMSEE also examined <strong data-start=\"2108\" data-end=\"2154\">the evolution of pay disparities over time<\/strong>. Findings show a <strong data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2215\">steady reduction in private-sector gaps<\/strong>, with a <strong data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2262\">10-point decrease in monthly wages<\/strong> and nearly <strong data-start=\"2274\" data-end=\"2302\">6 points in hourly wages<\/strong> since 2012.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2318\" data-end=\"2477\">The <strong data-start=\"2322\"
