The official opening, celebrated with free family-friendly activities and a traditional Ni\u00e7oise buffet, attracted a large number of visitors.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"905\">The public was able to preview the first completed section within the Eco Vall\u00e9e: <strong data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"716\">1.5 hectares<\/strong> including a panoramic viewpoint, five fitness stations, a dog agility area, picnic spots, an olive grove, and a lavender field. Children enjoyed inflatable games and gardening workshops.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"910\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"957\">A project of environmental regeneration<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"1287\">The Grand Parc is part of the <strong data-start=\"988\" data-end=\"1026\">Op\u00e9ration d\u2019Int\u00e9r\u00eat National (OIN)<\/strong> and fully integrated into the <strong data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1077\">ZAC Parc M\u00e9ridia<\/strong>, developed by <strong data-start=\"1092\" data-end=\"1114\">EPA Nice \u00c9covall\u00e9e<\/strong>. Its goal is ambitious: to return to nature and residents an area long covered by impermeable surfaces, turning it into a vast green lung on the western side of the city.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1733\">Once completed, the park will cover <strong data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1340\">30 hectares<\/strong>, including <strong data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1401\">20 hectares of urban green space and eco-park<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1406\" data-end=\"1465\">10 hectares devoted to urban and productive agriculture<\/strong>. The southern area will host spaces for sport and leisure, while the northern section will feature urban gardens and farmland, alongside the <strong data-start=\"1607\" data-end=\"1652\">Municipal Horticultural Production Center<\/strong> and a <strong data-start=\"1659\" data-end=\"1698\">Metropolitan Agricultural Incubator<\/strong> for young farmers and start-ups.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1735\" data-end=\"1738\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1740\" data-end=\"1771\">A model of sustainability<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1772\" data-end=\"2023\">The project enhances the region\u2019s agricultural heritage and Mediterranean vegetation, while also becoming a <strong data-start=\"1880\" data-end=\"1922\">living laboratory for water management<\/strong>, through the restoration of the <strong data-start=\"1955\" data-end=\"1978\">canal des arrosants<\/strong>, now redesigned as an ecological corridor.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2025\" data-end=\"2170\">The figures are clear: <strong data-start=\"2048\" data-end=\"2081\">20 hectares of new vegetation<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2083\" data-end=\"2112\">60% of surfaces de-sealed<\/strong>, and an estimated <strong data-start=\"2131\" data-end=\"2167\">112.5 tons of CO\u2082 saved per year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2352\" data-end=\"2544\">With the Grand Parc de la Plaine du Var, Nice has not only gained a new park but also a <strong data-start=\"2440\" data-end=\"2481\">tangible symbol of a sustainable city<\/strong>, mindful of environmental challenges and future generations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nice inaugurated on Saturday, September 27, the Grand Parc de la Plaine du Var, a new green space set to become a symbol of the city\u2019s environmental renewal.
