{"id":22744,"date":"2025-06-23T08:33:44","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T06:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/montecarloliving.com\/?p=22744"},"modified":"2025-06-19T13:39:38","modified_gmt":"2025-06-19T11:39:38","slug":"first-unss-awards-ceremony-celebration-of-unified-school-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montecarloliving.com\/en\/actuality\/first-unss-awards-ceremony-celebration-of-unified-school-sports-22744\/","title":{"rendered":"First UNSS Awards Ceremony: A Celebration of Unified School Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"96\" data-end=\"430\"><strong data-start=\"96\" data-end=\"430\">For the first time, Monaco&#8217;s secondary schools \u2013 Coll\u00e8ge Charles III, Lyc\u00e9e Albert I, Lyc\u00e9e Rainier III, and Fran\u00e7ois d\u2019Assise-Nicolas Barr\u00e9 (both coll\u00e8ge and lyc\u00e9e) \u2013 came together for a joint UNSS (National Union of School Sports) awards ceremony, marking a new milestone in the development of school sports in the Principality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"432\" data-end=\"770\"><strong data-start=\"432\" data-end=\"493\">93 students rewarded for their commitment and performance<\/strong><br data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"496\" \/>This first-of-its-kind ceremony, organized under the auspices of the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports (DENJS), aimed to recognize students\u2019 commitment throughout the year, whether shown through performance, sportsmanship, or involvement as young officials.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"772\" data-end=\"833\">A total of 93 students received one of three types of awards:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"835\" data-end=\"1198\">\n<li data-start=\"835\" data-end=\"922\">\n<p data-start=\"837\" data-end=\"922\"><strong data-start=\"837\" data-end=\"854\">Sports Awards<\/strong>, for students who participated in a French national championship,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"923\" data-end=\"1043\">\n<p data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1043\"><strong data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"941\">Merit Awards<\/strong>, for two exemplary students per sport and per school, recognized for their dedication and behavior,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1198\">\n<p data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1198\"><strong data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1071\">Young Official Awards<\/strong>, for referees, judges, or reporters who earned certification or played an active role in the sporting life of their schools.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1347\">The ceremony ended on a high note with a performance by students from the newly introduced dance section, available from the 2024\u20132025 school year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1697\"><strong data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1383\">A dynamic year for UNSS Monaco<\/strong><br data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1386\" \/>With 700 registered members, the UNSS district of Monaco once again surpassed the national averages in 2024\u20132025. It stood out through its vibrant organizational activities \u2014 hosting several departmental and academic competitions in the Principality \u2014 and through the excellent results achieved by its students.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1699\" data-end=\"1925\">Notably, Lyc\u00e9e Albert I secured 2nd place in the national football championship and performed exceptionally in cross-country and rowing at national level. In athletics, Monegasque schools dominated local and academic rankings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"2313\">Students also stood out in climbing, gymnastics, basketball, and badminton. In indoor rowing, teams achieved a respectable 5th place at national level.<br data-start=\"2078\" data-end=\"2081\" \/>Beyond athletic performance, this event highlighted the wide range of sports offered \u2014 from rugby to weight training, p\u00e9tanque to fencing \u2014 and honored the civic commitment of young officials, who play a key role in the UNSS system.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2315\" data-end=\"2457\">The DENJS commended the dedication of Physical Education and Sports (EPS) teachers who support and guide these activities throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2459\" data-end=\"2697\">This first joint awards ceremony, driven by values of sharing and recognition, confirms the vitality of school sports in Monaco and the determination of its stakeholders to
