Official Visit to the Addiction Care, Support and Prevention Centre of Monaco (CSAPAM)<\/strong>
Recently, the official visit of the Centre for Care, Support and Prevention in Addictology of Monaco (CSAPAM) took place. H.S.H. Prince Albert II was accompanied for the occasion by Mr. Christophe Robino, Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Dr. Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Goldbroch, addiction psychiatrist and head of CSAPAM, and Dr. Alexandre Bordero, Director of Health Action.<\/p>\n

Located in the heart of Fontvieille, the CSAPAM welcomes, listens to, supports, and provides medical and psychological assessments for people with risky consumption, harmful use, or dependence on psychoactive substances, as well as for their families and close ones. The goal is to offer tailored, individualized support.<\/p>\n

To address addiction-related issues, CSAPAM is open to working adults in Monaco, students attending school in Monaco, residents, and Monegasque nationals from the age of 15 who are facing addictive challenges. The centre\u2019s mission is to provide support and care for those affected by their own or others\u2019 addictive behaviors\u2014whether personal or professional.<\/p>\n

This local center offers anonymous, free, and compassionate support to anyone facing addiction\u2014whether related to alcohol, tobacco, drug use (cannabis, heroin, cocaine, amphetamines, synthetic substances like methamphetamines, poppers, etc.), addiction to certain medications (morphine, painkillers, etc.), or behavioral addictions such as gambling (scratch cards, lotto, slot machines), betting (horse racing, poker, roulette), and screens (smartphone, computer, TV, tablet), all of which can significantly impact personal, family, social, and professional life.\"\"<\/p>\n

A confidential and human-centered space<\/strong>
CSAPAM is a resource center that is anonymous, free, and accessible with or without an appointment. It guarantees confidentiality, respect, and non-judgment. Open to all residents, employees, and students in the Principality from the age of 15, the center offers free, personalized consultations with trained professionals.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur approach is based on kindness, confidentiality, and the absence of judgment. It aims to help each person reclaim their freedom. Because addiction is the loss of freedom. We work, together with our patients, to restore that freedom. The therapeutic alliance is our driving force,\u201d emphasized Dr. Goldbroch in his speech.<\/p>\n

A first step toward a solution<\/strong>
CSAPAM offers discreet reception, active listening, and personalized support for anyone directly or indirectly affected by problematic substance use. Whether it\u2019s a question, a need for occasional support, or a long-term follow-up, the center adapts to each individual’s needs.<\/p>\n

Beyond treatment, CSAPAM engages in prevention efforts in collaboration with schools, companies, and social institutions. It also supports the relatives of people facing addiction, who are often overwhelmed.<\/p>\n

A free and practical response to addiction challenges in Monaco<\/strong>
By offering a dedicated and local service, the Princely Government aims to promote early care, reduce health and social risks, and break the isolation of those affected.<\/p>\n

\u201cAddiction is still too often associated with shame, guilt, and isolation. Yet the first step in healing is restoring self-esteem. De-stigmatization is therefore at the core of our commitment,\u201d concluded the addiction psychiatrist.<\/p>\n
