{"id":18027,"date":"2025-01-13T10:15:46","date_gmt":"2025-01-13T09:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/montecarloliving.com\/?p=18027"},"modified":"2025-01-13T10:17:14","modified_gmt":"2025-01-13T09:17:14","slug":"annual-harvest-of-bitter-oranges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montecarloliving.com\/en\/actuality\/annual-harvest-of-bitter-oranges-18027\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual harvest of bitter oranges."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting from January 13, 2025, the gardeners of the Urban Planning Department (DAU) will begin the annual harvest of bitter orange trees in the Principality.<br \/>\nIn 2024, the Principality counted 1,111 citrus trees (orange, lemon, clementine trees, etc.), including 516 untreated bitter orange trees.<br \/>\nEvery year, in January and February, the DAU gardeners prune the various fruit trees and harvest the bitter oranges (Seville oranges) that grow on trees lining the streets in the districts of Condamine, Moneghetti, and Monte-Carlo.<br \/>\nAnyone wishing to benefit from the bitter oranges during this annual harvest can approach the gardeners on-site.<br \/>\n11.14 tons were harvested in 2024, including 4.45 tons distributed free of charge to the public, as well as to the Rainier III High School, for processing into jam and fruit paste.<\/p>\n<p>The gardeners will pick the bitter oranges according to the following schedule (from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, depending on weather conditions and the progress of the harvest):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condamine Sector:<br \/>\nFrom January 13 to January 24: Princess Caroline Street<br \/>\nFrom January 28 to February 7: Grimaldi Street<\/li>\n<li>Moneghetti Sector:<br \/>\nFrom January 20 to January 31: Boulevard de Belgique<\/li>\n<li>Monte-Carlo Sector:<br \/>\nFrom January 13 to January 17: Avenue de Grande-Bretagne<br \/>\nFrom January 20 to January 24: Boulevard d&#8217;Italie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A new feature this year: come and discover the exhibition &#8220;Sur la Route des Agrumes,&#8221; installed on Princess Caroline Street, to enjoy until February 2025!<\/p>\n<p>For more information:<br \/>\nUrban Planning Department &#8211; +377 98 98 22 77 \/ <a rel=\"noopener\">amenagement@gouv.mc<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Starting from January 13, 2025, the gardeners of the Urban Planning Department (DAU) will begin the annual harvest of bitter orange trees in the Principality.
