The Amendment No. 1 to the General Social Security Convention between the Principality of Monaco and the Italian Republic of February 12, 1982, has been ratified by the Authorities of both countries and will come into force on June 1, 2024.<\/p>\n
The Princely Government is pleased with the conclusion of this matter, which required several years of negotiations with Italy, leading to the signing, in Monaco, on May 10, 2021, of Amendment No. 1 by H.E. Mr. Pierre DARTOUT, Minister of State, and Mr. Andrea ORLANDO, then Italian Minister of Labor and Social Policies.<\/p>\n
This agreement defines what telecommuting is and establishes the principle that telecommuters residing in Italy can be subject to Monegasque social legislation for the entire duration of their activity as telecommuters on behalf of a company located in the territory of the Principality.<\/p>\n
This extension of access to telecommuting to a new segment of employees is a significant advancement for both the Principality and Italy and will, in the coming decades, effectively address the challenges posed by the consequences of Monaco’s economic development success, particularly the limited size of our territory, while promoting employment access for Italian workers.<\/p>\n
Practically speaking, as is already the case for telecommuters residing in France, telecommuting must be formalized through an employment contract or an addendum to the employment contract, with the obligation for the telecommuter to be present at least one-third of their working time in the company to maintain the necessary connection with the teams.<\/p>\n
