Subsequently, at 8:45 a.m., a ceremony will be held at the nearby Monument aux Morts in Rauba Cape\u00f9.<\/p>\n<p>This day is significant for France as it marks the victory of the Allies over Nazi Germany and the end of the Second World War in Europe. The signing of the German surrender took place on May 7, 1945, at 2:41 a.m. in Reims, and hostilities ceased at 11:01 p.m. on May 8th.
